The recently released Q30 hatchback has been a great success for Infiniti in the UK. The main reason for this is the fact that it featured a range of 2.2-litre 4-cylinder diesel engines, a far cry from Infiniti of old, with its thirsty V6 and V8 petrols.
The rest of the range is following suit, and being based on the popular Mercedes A-Class, it's no surprise that the Q30 is gaining a bigger brother. The QX30 (or essentially a Mercedes GLA).
The QX30 compact crossover will be arriving in showrooms across the UK early this summer. From launch, the only powertrain available will be the 168 bhp 2.2-litre turbodiesel with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and part-time all-wheel-drive. This is by no means a bad thing, as it's likely to be the best-seller.
Two trim levels will make up the QX30 - the Premium at £29,490 and the Premium Tech at £33.370. This is a considerable jump above the Audi Q3 (£25,650) and BMW X1 (£27,090), although the Lexus NX does cost a few coins more (£29,995). And of course, the all-important question, is it more expensive than the Mercedes GLA? Of course. The entry-level QX30 comes at a £2,105 premium over the GLA.
