Toyota RAV4

Now in its 4th generation, the successful RAV4 is distantly related to the original. You don't have to look for to see, and proof of this is in its name. RAV stands for Recreational Activity Vehicle and 4 signifies four-wheel-drive - the obvious difference is that today the RAV4 isn't necessarily a four-wheel-drive SUV, it's also offered as a two-wheel-drive.

Available in 4 trim levels (Active, Business Edition, Icon and Invincible), the RAV4 starts at £22,795. All models come with alloy wheels, a spare wheel, LED daytime running lights, halogen headlights and front fog lights, heated door mirrors, air con, Bluetooth, 4 speakers, Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), ABS and ISOFIX. Step up for automatic headlights and wipers, a rear-view camera, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, an electrochromatic rear-view mirror, dual-zone climate control, DAB, USB and aux-in socket, 6 speakers, powered driver's seat and heated front seats.

There's a 547-litre boot behind the 60:40 split folding rear seats.
Engines come in the form of a 124 bhp 2.0-litre D-4D mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and either 2WD or 4WD. There's also a 150 bhp 2.2-litre D mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and AWD. The 151 bhp 2.0-litre petrol is used for the AWD model and gets its power delivered through a CVT. Lastly there's a 150bhp 2.2-litre DCAT AWD which uses a 6-speed automatic 'box. Don't forget there will be a RAV4 Hybrid soon!
