Volkswagen's New Models, 2015

Golf GTD Estate
Due in the summer, the new Golf GTD Estate will use the same 2.0-litre 184 PS TDI engine as in the GTD Hatchback, which means they both produce 380 Nm of torque. The GTD Estate is 0.4 s slower to 62 mph than the Hatchback at 7.9 s. The Golf GTD Estate is expected to achieve more than 64 mpg, we can expect CO2 emissions to be similar to those of the Gold GTD Hatchback at 109 g/km.

Golf R Estate
Due with the GTD Estate, the R Estate uses the 2.0-litre turbocharged 300 PS TSI engine seen in the Golf R Hatchback. Both produce 380 Nm of torque and have a 5.1-second record for the 0-62 mph sprint. Expected to achieve 40.4 mpg and 163 g/km of CO2, the Golf R Estate's benchmarks are very close to those of the Golf R Hatchback.

Golf Alltrack
Another Golf that's due in the summer is the Alltrack. If you're not familiar with VW's Alltrack, it's just a rugged, off-roady estate. The engines to be used are the 1.8-litre 180 PS TSI, 1.6-litre 110 PS TDI and 2.0-litre TDI which have two power outputs of 150 or 184 PS. The torquiest of them all is the 184 PS 2.0-litre TDI with 380 Nm of it. The quickest are the 180 PS 1.8 TSI and the 184 PS 2.0 TDI at 7.8 s for the 0-62 mph sprint. Achieving 60.1 mpg, the 1.6-litre 110 PS TDI is the most efficient, also emitting the lowest (124 g/km of CO2).

cross-up!
In late Summer, the cross-up! will join the CrossPolo, CrossGolf and CrossTouran, none of which are available here in the UK. A 75 PS 3-cylinder petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission will power the new cross-up! and it's expected to cost €13,925. Os yeah, and it might not even be coming here, as UK sales are "under consideration".

Passat GTE
In October, we can expect to see a GTE version of the Passat Saloon and Estate. Using a 1.4-litre 156 PS TSI engine in conjunction with a 115 PS electric motor gives a combined output of 218 PS and 400 Nm. Compare that to the Golf GTE's 150 PS 1.4-litre TSI unit and 102 PS electric motor which produce 204 PS and 350 Nm, and it becomes obvious that VW has upped the power for the heavier Passats. The quickest Passat GTE gets to 62 mph in 8.0 s compared to the Golf GTE's 7.6 s. The Golf GTE (£33,035) costs £15,860 more than the standard base-model Golf (£17,175). The base-model Passat and Passat Estate cost £22,215 and £23,745 respectively. So I'm hoping that the Passat GTE will be a sub-£40k PHEV.
Passat Alltrack
Another Alltrack, though this one due in October, the Alltrack will use 150 and 220 PS TSI engines and 150, 190 and 240 PS TDI engines, including a 2.0-litre TDI. Fuel economy comes in at 58.9 mpg and 129 g/km of CO2.

New Sharan
Following in the Passat Alltrack's footsteps will be the New Sharan, again, to be seen in October. The expected engines are a 1.4-litre 150 PS TSI, 2.0-litre 220 PS TSI, 2.0-litre 115 PS TDI, 2.0-litre 140 PS TDI and 2.0-litre 184 PS TDI. At 57.6 mpg and 130 g/km of CO2, it should be cheap to run too.

New Touran
Lastly is the New Touran, coming this November. A combination of engines include the 1.2-litre 110 PS TSI, 1.4-litre 150PS TSI, 1.6-litre 110 PS TDI, 2.0-litre 150PS TDI and 2.0-litre 190 PS TDI. We can expect as much as 68.9 mpg here.
